Justin has been cleaning my pool for some time. He was referred to me by one of my friends whose pool he had been cleaning for years. My pool has been sparkling since he started cleaning it. I've had other's where if my pool turned green, would make me wait until my nxt scheduled appt. My pool does not turn green with Justin. In fact when he took over I was hving issues with a green pool. He took care of it immediately and I've never had an issue since.

Our Story

My name is Justin, and I first entered the pool business for over 25 years when my youthpastor got me a job at Swimming Pool Service and Repair. I started off doing underwater poolrepair – the surprising sort of job most people probably don’t even know exists!

In 2002 I stuck out on my own and started AZ Pool Guy. I got married in 2011 and we had ourfirst child in 2013; that changed the way I view my business as I now see it as a legacy I canpass down to my children.

There are a number of things I do differently than other pool companies; they just makesense to me. It is very common for other companies to require customers to sign a one yearcontract – they want to be able to have a steady, predictable workflow year-round. As acustomer I have never liked feeling “trapped” and I don’t want my customers to feel that wayeither, so I have never required long-term contracts.

Another thing I do is offer a flat-rate fee. Most companies quote around $120 per month forpool cleaning services, but every time you turn around there’s a surprise fee tacked on. It isnot uncommon for bills in the summer to exceed $300 – very shocking to a customer whowas expecting to pay $120!

I take care to plan my schedule carefully so that I will be there when I say I will. I’ve heard ofother pool companies rescheduling 3 or 4 times, and, what’s worse, they don’t call thecustomer to let them know they’re rescheduling; the customer has to call them and find outwhy they never showed up.

There have been rare occasions when I could not arrive on my scheduled day: for example,about 6 years ago I had a truck get totaled and about half of my customers got their serviceabout a day late. I believe it’s important to keep the promises I make, and if that is impossible,then it is very important to immediately find a suitable plan B – whether it’s renting a truck,outsourcing to another company, or whatever needs to be done -- and quickly communicatethe new plan with my customers.
